Frequently asked questions

Can we book our own airfare?

No. We have a longstanding and positive relationship with Delta Airlines and their partners. We book airfare to keep our groups together and arriving around the same time. It is very hard for us to mitigate issues such as missed flights, canceled flights, or delays if flights are booked outside of our programs.

Do you plan educational travel experiences for private groups?

Yes! Elizabeth is very experienced at organizing customized educational travel experiences for private groups with our travel partners. We must have a minimum of 10 participants. We can work with dates that work for your group however please note that we do not travel to Senegal between mid April and Mid October. Some of our past customized travel experiences have included: - Family groups - Church groups - School groups - Homeschool groups - Professionals (teachers, business leadership, etc) We can do programs in the target language or cultural experiences in English. If you would like to organize a private group you can set up a free consult by clicking this link- http://www.lw5steachers.com/bookings-checkout/teacher-group-leader-consult-for-groups or contact Elizabeth at lw5s@bvwla.com.

If we choose not to travel, do we get a refund?

No. We have a strict no refund policy. Our travel partners do not refund and therefore we cannot refund. We ask that you are absolutely certain they are ready to participate in this program before registering. If one of our partners cancels, we will postpone.

Why are the student programs more expensive than the Globetrotter Programs when the itineraries and dates are similar?

The student programs are more expensive because we are accounting for the extra staff needed to chaperone and supervise students. The Globetrotter programs are designed for adults and adults traveling with children so we do not need the extra supervision. The student programs also require some additional administrative staff.

What happens if the minimum number of travelers is not met to run the program?

We needed a minimum of 6 in order to run any of our programs. If we do not meet the minimum for the program by the registration deadline, we will offer you a spot on another program in the same year or you can travel the following year. A difference in fees may be applicable when changing to a different program. If you choose to change to the same program the following year, the current year's fees will be applicable.

Do you provide travel insurance?

We do not offer travel insurance as part of the cost of our programs, however we do suggest Volunteer Card Volunteer card is inexpensive and lasts up to one year and can be used on multiple trips depending on the plan you choose. It also provides meals to refugee children around the world. This is also the insurance plan recommended by our travel partner GEEO.
